FAQ

IS LAWN BOWLS AN EXPENSIVE SPORT?

Not at all.

Following your membership fee your only "must have" is a pair of flat shoes, trainers for example.

We have many sets of Club bowls for members use.

League matches do carry a nominal "Green Fee"

For competition play grey trousers, (or skirt), and a white top are the order of the day.

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT TO PLAY?

No.

Our membership ranges in age from 35 years old to 86 years young!

Your physical ability is the only limiting factor.

During the average game you will walk some one half of a mile, but at a leisurely pace.

There is some bending involved.

WHAT IS THE COST OF MEMBERSHIP?

Annual membership to The Club is currently set at £60.00.
This includes use of all the club equipment but  does not include competition entry or locker hire.
Competition entry is set at a nominal £1.00 per person and playing in a League match incurs a small fee.

Spacious lockers can be reserved for £5.00 per annum, (subject to availability)

CAN I JOIN AND PLAY WITHOUT GETTING INVOLVED IN COMPETITIONS?

Absolutely.

We encourage Membership at all levels and if you wish to come and have the occasional "roll up", that's fine, (subject to a rink being free).

If at a later date you wished to play in The League or just our internal competitions just let us know!

CAN I HAVE A GO AT BOWLING BEFORE JOINING?

Yes you can.

We have an open day every year and all are welcome to come and try this wonderful sport.

Our members are always there to guide you in your first steps and as a bonus there is usually a BBQ involved!!

We also offer personal trials if you wished to come down and see if the game suits you when the green is not being used. This is strictly by appointment and can be set up by emailing bottishambowlingclub@gmail.com

IN WHAT COMPETITIONS IS THE CLUB INVOLVED?

Our open season is packed with League Matches, internal knockout competitions and  more.

We play in the Ely & District League on Monday and Friday afternoons.

We play In the County Triples League on Thursday evenings.

Internal competitions are played, usually on a knockout basis and include mens and ladies singles, mens and ladies pairs, mixed pairs and also some fun competitions where names are drawn from a hat for pairs and triples!.

We also have Club Cup Competitions that run through the season including the coveted Dave Frost Trophy.

Members from other clubs are invited to play at Bottisham in our open competitions.
